The Eric Kim Series

At the beginning of the fall semester a professor gave me the assignment to make a series of images heavily inspired by, or that are recreations of, an artists who inspires me. If you’ve followed my work for a while, you have probably heard me mention Eric Kim. He is a street photographer whose work has been an inspiration to me since I first got a camera, and from the moment I saw the assignment I knew that I would be doing my project on him. These photographs are a mix of photos that are based on his work, as well as some direct copies of particular images, with my own spin. But to be clear, the concepts behind the photos are almost all created by Eric.

I know full well mine isn’t as good as his in this instance. No clue how he captures the shininess in those leaves, but i couldn’t find anything like them.

I tried my damndest to find the poster that he used in this image, but I couldn’t. Still very happy with my inception-ey self portrait version though.

The original boot image that I based mine on. My wide lens wouldn’t focus close enough, so I couldn’t get the same wide angle effect, however i like how the boot fills a bit more of the frame using the longer lens.
